Where to next?

Well I was aiming to exhibit several times this year, with at least one show in Sydney. In a matter of two months I’ve managed one group show in Wollongong, my local city and also exhibited in a group show in a Sydney gallery, The Newtown Hub Gallery. As for what’s to come? Well I will continue to produce work and continue with my interning at pocal galleries. I have recently become a comittee member at Project in Wollongong, where I will be getting more involved with the operation of the gallery and ensuring it succeeds as a not-for-profit organisation. Additionally I will be going for some major art prizes such as the Dobell Prize for Drawing.

That is all for now. So stay tuned, and thank you for all of the positive support thus far.

Pulp Piction – Newtown Hub Gallery

Well I finally did it, got myself into a gallery in Sydney. Even though it isn’t an almight commercial space with an influential art dealer who could promise me big sales and great fame and wealth. Exhibiting in Sydney was a goal of mine, and I acheived that just a couple of months after graduating from University. After an interesting experience submitting my work last week I attended the opening night. Some great work by several other artists, in a great space on Enmore Road in one of Sydney’s art precincts, Newtown. The show was great, the live entertainment was awesome too. A chilled out creative environment with like minded people coming together to exhibit and see visual art in all its glory.

Overall it was a great experience, and a great feeling acheiving a goal that I had set for myself. Enjoy the pics and if you can get along to the Newtown Hub Gallery, 22 Enmore Road, Newtown, Sydney, N.S.W.

A little visit to the AGNSW

Whilst in Sydney I figured that I would see what was happening at the Art Gallery of NSW. There was the usual permanent exhibitions which are always enjoyable. I also managed to check out a contemporary photographic and digital media exhibition about love, relationships, loneliness and sex. I will be refraining from documenting work in the exhibition, mainluly because it is fround upon but also because it ruins the exhibition for those who want to go see it.

I also managed to see a grouping of photographic works by Helmut Newton, and Bettina Rheims. Definitely worth seeing,  themes and subjects positioning the work between the worlds of fine art and fashion photography.

Newtow Hub Gallery Experience

Well that was an experience. Wandered into a darkened gallery space in Newtown to the welcome of a short Argentinian man called Andreas who didn’t know what was going on with the exhibition so he told me to call who I assumed was his wife and gallery director, Anita. She answered and we couldn’t understand each other so she told me to put Andreas back on, and after much heated Spanish and many ci’s and buenos I was told that I could leave my work with them and it would be exhibited. I guess that this experience will be one of the stories told for years to come. I just thought that it was an experience worth sharing.

Some more work on paper

This will only be a short post. As I am trying to make at least one blog post per week now. Hoping to increase that. And also change my page theme. It seems a bit crap at the moment. In the mean time here is several examples of some recent work on paper.
